Last Days of Summer

School starts tomorrow D:

This summer has been amazing and new and fun and exciting and I've had no time to blog (like I said I would). So here is my last outfit post with pink hair...that makes me so sad you don't even know.
Soon enough, I'll be back to uniforms and homework.
Don't get me wrong, I love school. It's just so time consuming when I could be doing things like spending all my money on food, sewing, making crafts, and re-watching Lord of the Rings.

So I got the two most radical presents I could ever receive this summer.
A Canon Rebel T3
and
a pair of Doc Martens
I feel so professional with my photos and so badass with my boots.

Dress: Topshop
Shoes: Doc Martens
Lips: OCC Lip Tar "Hoochie"

I got this little dress on major sale and have been wearing it all the time. It's got these layers of fabric on the front that I love. The beauty is always in the details.

So this is goodbye to cotton candy hair! Goodbye to summer!
Here's to junior year. May it contain the least amount of hellish stress as possible.

Love,
Bella

Style Icon: Retro Space Babes

Recently, instead of posting on this blog (yeah I'm bad at this) I've been watching weird movies on Netflix/Hulu in my room. But this has not been for naught, for I have had the privilege of watching Barbarella; a 60's space movie starring Jane Fonda. My eyes have been opened to the ridiculous world of retro space babes, and I will never be the same...
The movie has a very loose plot that I was struggling to follow almost the entire time (and if you watch it you'll also understand how uncomfortable the movie made me) but what I did understand was that Barbarella (the "Queen of the Galaxy") had fantastic wardrobe changes every 30 minutes. I mean really, see for yourself.
I mean, really.

It has a full length tail.

So impractical for space travel, yet so perfect.
This one gets torn up within 2 minutes of screen time.

The use of plastic and basically every shiny material known to man in these costumes is superb
*round of applause* I need the costume designer to come and work for me so I can just be Jane Fonda always.

Another inspirational group of retro space babes are the pirates from outer space in the online comic I Was Kidnapped by Lesbian Pirates from Outer Space!!! The title is pretty self-explanatory: five lesbian space pirates kidnap a human and have wild adventures, what fun!!! The uniforms on these girls are wonderful and their hair is even better.

How could you NOT want to be them?

Technicolor hair? Knee-high boots? RAY GUNS? That sounds like perfection to me...
Also, the comic is beautifully drawn and you should all go read it here.

So because it is not (yet) socially acceptable to dress like this in daily life, I guess I can settle with spending all of my time and effort into making a Halloween costume that replicates one of these costumes perfectly. Now excuse me while I take at least 2 months to make this grueling decision.

If you know of any more old space movies/TV shows/comic/books that showcase beautiful space fashion, lemme know so I can swoon over it.

Outfit of the Day: Back to Black

Fact: Black velvet is the best fabric to exist.

I made myself presentable a couple of days ago because I thought I was going to the mall with my friend, so pictures were taken. We ended up just watching Doctor Who at her house and eating Kraft mac n' cheese, because we all know that was the better decision for two broke girls to make.

Black is actually my favorite color for two reasons; 1) because it looks good on everyone all the time forever and 2) because it goes with every other color. And the best kind of fabric to be black is velvet, which my skirt is made of but you can't tell because of
~*~*~crappy camera quality~*~*~
So yes here is this outfit.

Shirt: American Apparel
Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: Steve Madden
Pin: DIY (post to come)

I've been making a lot of those pins, and next post I'll show off all of them!
Let's all hope that one day I get a camera that can show you the texture of my clothing because I know you all care so much.

Outfit of the Day: Hello Again!

I'm Back!

Hello all! I have returned from my school-induced online coma, and OH MY GOODNESS IT'S SUMMER!!! As you can see, my hair is now pink as per protocol. When I don't have school admins telling me not to dye my hair, I go all out.
This is just a simple OOTD post. My sisters and I went thrifting (more on that later) so this outfit was put together to make it easy for me to dig through musty clothing for a couple of hours. It was a successful day.

Dress: Volcom
Bag: Forever 21
Shoes: Converse
Sunnies: Kate Spade

Now that it's summer, I will most definitely be posting more. Get ready bros...

Secret Jamz: A Playlist

*Long and dramatic sigh*
Sometimes school gets overwhelmingly bleh for me, and that is when I decide that I'm going to sit in my room for hours attempting (of course I am!) to do homework while listening to music way too loudly to think.
It just so happens that when I am just done with life and school and want to just wallow in angst, I listen to songs that I wish I didn't know all the words to (save a few on this playlist). Many are ones that friends played that I said, "Oh yeah this is alright" to and then haphazardly Googled the 10 or so lyrics in the song so I could just listen to it on replay until my brain melted.
So yeah, sometimes people just need to listen to brain numbing dance music that you can't help but jam to at midnight when you should either be sleeping or writing that paper (don't remind me)...
Here are 10 songs you shouldn't really tell people you're listening to, but you should rock out to anyway. I won't judge you for liking the playlist if you don't judge me for making it.

Spring is Here!

Happy Easter Everyone!
Easter, for me, marks the start of spring and I'm really excited for it! Sun dresses and pastels are coming up (as if we can't wear those year round in Hawaii).
Today the family and I did the whole Easter shebang: church and then brunch. It's a tradition that I've always looked forward too. And what makes it all better is everyone dresses up on Easter Sunday in their best spring clothing. This is what I elected to wear after I literally dug through all my dark, as-far-as-winter-can-go-in-Hawaii clothing.

Dress: Forever 21
Tights: H.U.E
Shoes: Goodwill
Rings: Urban Outfitters

I thought looking like a flower was an appropriate choice for spring, so I went for the green legs. (If you haven't noticed, I'm in love with tights and try to fit them into almost all of my outfits.)
Spring break may be over, but I'm just getting warmed up (hahaha...oh dear). So pull out the florals and pastels and get ready to...go back to school actually...

Ladies and Gentlemen!...

My friend just had her magnificent Sweet 16 on the Big Island and I got to go! It was circus themed and rocked. There were silk performers, fire dancers, clowns (terrifying ones), magicians, and the list goes on! I'll stop bragging about that now though... So I pondered what I should wear for a really long time because you can't just blow your one and only chance to wear a circus themed outfit, it just doesn't happen often enough! I found this dress and imagined myself doing acrobatic shenanigans in it (if only I were flexible). So, a few weeks late, this is what I decided to wear:

Dress + Bow: American Apparel
Shoes: Steve Madden Girl

I stuck with the bright primary red and blue. Those are the colors I think of most when I think circus. The interesting cut of the dress was the thing that made it seem so performance-esque.
If only traveling circuses were still commonly around... I'd probably run away with one wearing this.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
February 14th, the day of love, is here! I hope you're all having a great one filled with chocolates, flowers, and everything pink. I also hope that you aren't sad and making Facebook statuses about said sadness.

So this is my Valentine's Day outfit. Even though I didn't wear it the whole day, I thought it was perfect if I DID go out tonight, which I'm not doing. I'm going to be watching romantic comedies at home *cheering*

Dress: American Apparel
Shoes: BCBGirls(stolen from the sister Sophia)

This velvet dress makes me feel so sassy and the pink ribbon made it look even more Valentine's Day appropriate! Those shoes are so 20's and terrifyingly high for me (Especially with this broken toe. Beauty is pain.)

So just a reminder: you don't need someone on Valentine's Day to make it awesome! Celebrate past, present, and future love! Eat the free candy and be merry. Plus, pink and red look good on everyone.

Valentine's Day Playlist

Omg guise it's February: the month of LOVE<333
To those of you who have a Sp3c!@L $0M31, that's fantastic! I hope you celebrate February 14th with them and have tons of fun and make SO MANY MEMORIES. But I also know tons of people hate Valentine's Day and think they are #foreveralone and all that fun wallowing in self pity stuff, but I have kind of begun to love Valentine's Day! It's so happy and pink and you get free chocolate and (when you don't have a legitimate valentine) you get to make ridiculously cheesy/horrible cards for your friends. But of course there are those moments during the day when you are sitting by yourself with all the candy you got and are thinking about how you're watching Love Actually for the 5oth time, which can make one sad for a short period of time. If you listen to some sad songs that you can cry to and then some songs that you can dance to, I guarantee you will feel 85 percent better (and work off all of the nasty candy hearts you ate. Why did you do that?)

So here is a playlist of nine songs all about LOVE<333
Laugh, cry, dance, sing along, etc. to them to make your Valentine's Day a huge success!

Freaks and Geeks

Outfit of the Day: Freaks and Geeks
I had a marathon of the show Freaks and Geeks recently, and all I've been thinking about is Lindsay Weir's military jacket and how wonderfully angst-y 90's television is, so I came up with this little number.

Top: American Apparel
Skirt: American Apparel
Tights: Macy's
Shoes: Forever 21
Pin: DIY
Jacket: Ralph Lauren

I love the look of bulky, oversized things on top of fitted feminine clothes. I found the jacket in the back of a closet and it's actually my dad's old hunting coat my mom bought him when she worked at Ralph Lauren.
As of right now, My So-Called Life and Freaks and Geeks are my favorite shows to look at for style inspiration. Something about the 16 year old "I don't give a crap what I look like but I still look so cool" attitude of the characters makes me want to BE THEM. But alas I will never be a student in a mid-west high school in the 90's :'''(
I can still dress like one though.

Mythology

A few weeks ago (when my sisters were still here *crying*) we went to this sunflower field that everyone Instagrammed (definitely a word) about but I had never been to. So we took the drive to the North Shore and found the place!
It turned out to be perfect weather and our outfits just looked $uP3r MajIkal so we took lots of pictures as rare garden creatures. Of course I added some gems and made our wings and horn visible to the human eye.

Dress: Nordstrom
Shirts: Forever 21
Bandeau: Brandy Melville
Shorts: American Apparel
Skirt: American Apparel

Yay for the first photoshoot on my blog! Many more to follow. I hope you liked us as fairies and unicorns, because I think this is my natural state anyway.
